This is an excellent collection of vocabulary words not only for the GRE but for life in general. They are words you run into in journalism, fiction, while listening to the news—it’s a great preparatory book.

I really liked this book. It is helpful when getting ready for college entrance exams, but is also good to learn new words everyday. I recommend this book!

This practical textbook/vocabulary builder/study guide for the GRE is excellent. Each of the 1535 essential words have its pronunciation, parts of speech, synonyms, antonyms, plus a sentence using the word in context. There are tests in the book as well as online practice tests. Plus there are answer 'keys' for each word's practice tests. Overall, I found this to give me a substantial grasp of the targeted vocabulary word as well as ways to decipher which words I need to practice more.

GRE Master Wordlist: 1535 Words for Verbal Mastery is a compact guide for test-prep skill-building. The book contains helpful hints and testing exercises in an easy-to-grasp format. The book is organized in a clear, concise way that would enable a very busy student to focus on chunks of text in a brief span of time. The editorial team advises students to incorporate the words featured into dinner conversation-- a convenient way to build skill for a lifetime, and not just for an academic test.

The GRE Master Wordlist is a straightforward, alphabetical term list with simple pronunciation information, part of speech, synonym(s), antonym(s) if applicable, and finally, the usage of the word in a sentence. The book is divided into 16 word lists so that it is not overwhelming to work your way through the 1,535 terms. At the end of each word list/section, you are rewarded for your studies with three quizzes: selecting synonyms (multiple-choice), selecting antonyms (multiple-choice), and a fill-in-the-blank (sentence) exercise. These three quizzes cover only 20-22 of the 100 words you just studied. As we all learn language and retain it through different means and channels, this particular learning style (working through a large list of terms at a time) can be useful, especially when studying for an exam. By increasing your own vocabulary, you will have “more words to choose from” in the written portions of the exam, for example. Having a larger vocabulary helps with the verbal reasoning section of the GRE in terms of the text completion, sentence equivalence, and reading comprehension tests. A richer vocabulary also makes it easier to incorporate vocabulary terms that are new to you in your own everyday communication. I compared the wordlist in this edition to similar GRE test preparation vocabulary lists and found a greater than 50% commonality among the lists.

Very good book. I especially like the "How to Get the Most Out of this Book" section. It gives several good tips on how to learn these vocab words faster and explains why to even try to expand your vocabulary. The layout is extremely easy to use (even as an eBook) with clear formatting differences between entry words, synonyms & antonyms, and exercises. The checkup exercises included after each chapter are very helpful too! For those who want extra practice, even more self-test exercises are available on vibrantpublisher's website. If you're gonna read this book, be prepared to take your time and think deep because a lot of these vocabulary words may be unfamiliar. But by following their guidelines for learning them, you'll be expanding your vocabulary in no time!

The 7th Edition of GRE Master Wordlist: 1535 Words for Verbal Mastery is a wonderfully thorough prep, not only for students who need to pass a vocabulary GRE exam, but also for anyone wanting to brush up on their use of vocabulary words. Many of the words listed are useful in today's English language. There are however, several challenging. and maybe not as well-known words, that will help students broaden their vocabulary knowledge. What I think is most helpful, are the sentence examples that demonstrate how each word can be used in everyday language. What I think would be most fun, are the study suggestions to try out under the heading "Have fun with the words as you make them your own!"
