Editorial Reviews

This book provides an exploration of how managers and employees work in groups for the completion of organizational objectives. Emphasis is placed on the growing dependency on understanding the behavior and personality of communities of practice (teams) in the workplace. The textbook equips students with insights regarding the ability to manage work teams, operate and navigate teams successfully, and obtain successful results via team dynamics. Researchers tell us that opportunities to succeed need to be more abundant in today’s workplaces; the author of this book is the proverbial knock and invitation for students to open that door.

If you are going to buy one Organizational Behaviors book this year, this book, in my opinion, is it. And I’ve read a lot of books covering leadership, organizational behavior, and learning and development. In fact, this book covers all three of those topics and so much more. There are quizzes at the end of each chapter to check your knowledge. This book should be on the bookshelf of Business students, business teachers, leaders, L&D specialist, Human Resource Specialist, and those seeking to move up in a company. If you seek to optimize your team’s results, success, and dynamics, get this second edition of “Organizational Behavior Essentials You Always Wanted To Know.”

"I'm recommending this book to colleagues who teach business. If you are a business student, an entrepreneur, or business owner, you'll want to pick up a copy, too.

I am none of the above and found myself interested in the chapters on finance, general management, HR, and marketing. Especially helpful are the quizzes and chapter summaries.

There is so much information that, whether you're starting out or plugging holes in your current knowledge, you'll learn something from this valuable text. It's an overview of business systems and essential components. (Which even I, not interested in business in the least, found fascinating and instructional.)"

Oh my goodness. So sorry for not responding. I have had unexpected injury and it's left me flat on my. back. Not how I like to operate. I'm leaning towards the Organizational Behavior online text by MacGraw Hill because in comparison to your text, I think my students will be more attracted to the pages as they appear online. Customer service wise, you topped them all. I did consider Pearson's book as well, but thought it was too sophisticated for my students. I think your text also was a tad above their heads. These are not the brightest and most motivated students.

Thank you for your professionalism. Now, if after teaching a semester with the MacGraw Hill book and it doesn't work out, I'll reach out to you again. You've been fantastic to work with!

Organizational Behavior Essentials You Always Wanted to Know is a well researched and a great resource to reference as you learn everything about organizations from individuals, leaders, and everything in between. This is not light reading by any means, but the information provided is such pertinent information that can be beneficial to any organization.

I honestly think this should be required reading for organizations in all areas of expertise as it gives much needed information for responses to different situations that can happen to many organizations. The quizzes at the end of each chapter really help to gauge where you are in your knowledge, something I found to be supremely helpful.

Though this resource is more on the textbook spectrum I still found it supremely beneficial, and Im sure you will too.

I was impressed with the completeness of the book's outline of topics, and the apt succinctness of the sentences.

I imagined that someone whose command of English was AS a second language (but who had 'mastered the language' for professional competency) would find this book relatively easy to use (in getting up to speed on OB - organizational behavior). The language was clear, succinct, and neither overly 'colorful' nor clich-ridden nor ridden with suboptimally nuanced word selections, as one sometimes sees when an author speaks only one language, but really well. IMO the writing was apt.

I think that the text book is aptly named - ESSENTIALS of OB - not everything, but everything one needs (or even would WANT) to know, even if that were the ONLY OB book one ever read during a professional career in a complex organization (and most of MY professional career HAS been in such organizations).

I received a free ARC from NetGalley, and this review is voluntary

If you remember those *Dummy Guide Books* back in the day, this is similar in the regard of introducing a complex subject matter, and boiling it down into easy to understand language, with examples of practice to reinforce the theory, or to expand on the knowledge of the chapter or section.

What the author does well with besides providing this information in a layman's way is the humanistic approach to the policies discussed, within the overall framework of organizational behavior. Much of this analysis is rightly through the lense of the employee, and how the relationship between labor and company can greatly affect not just the organization in areas such as productivity or efficiency, but also in relation to the employee/s themselves, with focus in areas like level of productivity and general morale.

This book is an amazing reference guide for those already practiced within the field like myself, or for those that hope to learn about organizational behavior. Much of the discussion is realistic, and points directly to the heart of the problem, while also providing a way to solve it. To paraphrase President Kennedy, a great leader knows that a rising tide lifts all boats.
